Why You Should Update Your Resume

Keep your Resume updated - you can thank me later.

I have heard many times, “Why should I keep this updated? I am happy with my job and love the company I work for”.

So… Why update your resume?

While you may be perfectly happy and content to be in the position you are currently in, will you be prepared when your company has an opening for that  p e r f e c t  position you have been waiting years for? Yes, that one that you’ve been eyeing since you started at this company 5 years ago! With this perfect position, you need to submit a resume showcasing your experiences over the course of your career.

There are so many reasons to keep your resume updated!

And while this might be the very last thing on your to-do list, it’s important to prioritize it.

I’ve worked with so many clients who say “I haven’t touched my resume in years.”

And they often forget to include impactful experiences because they truly… forget they happened.

Have you been keeping up with your resume over the past 3, 5, 7 years? If you’ve been content in your current position, you probably haven’t kept tabs on all the things you have accomplished, and it isn’t easy to create your resume from distant memories. This is why it’s so important to stay up to date on your resume and find a professional who can pull from your experiences and focus on the outcomes.

Where to Begin

A commonality among resume template creators is to “plug and chug” the information you provide them into a one-size fits all template. This allows them to be able to offer a quick turn-around time which seems great, right? However, here’s the kicker - YOU and your experiences do not fit into the mold of a template. Your UNIQUE experiences deserve a UNIQUE resume.

The Resume Fox gets to know you and your experiences through an individual interview.

I take the information that you provide me and combine that with a one-on-one conversation.

During this conversation, we reflect on your past experiences and focus on the outcomes. By doing so, we are painting a much broader and clearer picture of you & your capabilities. Not only will this allow you to stand out among your peers, but it will also open the door to a conversation and questions about the story you are sharing in your unique resume.

Want to create a resume that shares your unique experiences? Let's talk! I can’t wait to hear from you!!
